Rating Netherwing Dailies part 1

Since there are many dailies/repeatable quests for Netherwing faction, I am splitting the post in two. E was not a gatherer when I’m doing these dailies, so I don’t have experience with all the gathering dailies. The node and the herbs seems aplenty and I think miner and skinner has a slight advantage since they can focus their gathering inside the mine, and hence free from the elite Dragonmaw that roams around - kicking your butt :)
Remember that there’s a (long) quest chain needed to unlock the dailies. Completing the quest chain puts you to Neutral. To proceed to the dailies, after completing the quest chain, you also need the epic mount riding skill (5k g).

Available after Neutral
I’ve got to say that the dailies after neutral (up to Friendly) are a pain to do. You’ll be wishing that you hit Friendly soon.

A Slow Death

Task: Poison 12 Dragonmaw Peon Camps. Easy enough, huh? Wrong. Well, first you’ll need to gather 12 Fel Glands which were drops from the animals found in Shadowmoon Valley. They don’t have 100% drop rate, but it wasn’t too bad overall. Then, come back to Netherwing Ledge, combine the fel gland with the meat that are provided by the quest giver. See the cluster peons that are working (meaning their picks are moving) around a crystal? Put the poisoned meat nearby the peons and wait until they run toward it, ate greedily, and be dead (*insert evil laugh here*). Note that, you want to put the meat where all the peons need to travel to get to it. In other words, don’t put next to just one of the peon. Watch your back while you’re doing this so that the elites don’t take you by surprise.

Difficulty: It’s more of an annoying factor to travel to get the glands and to make sure that the meat is in the proper place than it is difficult. The good thing is you are rarely have to compete for the peon camps because they are everywhere :) Grouping will make the “grind” for fel glands go faster.

Reward: 11g 99s + 250 Netherwing rep.

Verdict: Just do this until you reach friendly or if you are farming for the rep. I’ve only done this quest several times, so I don’t really know all the tricks to it. For me, it’s not really worth doing if you just in for the money.

Netherwing Crystals

Task: Collect 40 crystals. The crystals dropped almost from everything in the area. And that includes the mine. In fact, I’ll recommend killing the mobs inside the mine instead. The “top” mine is usually more crowded but the mobs drop better items. The flayer, for example, has a chance to drop Netherwing Eggs (which is needed for the repeatable quest and helps you grind your reputation a lot faster). The crazed murkbloods drop Netherweave clothes, some silvers and eggs. If you see the ravager and only need to do this quest, please leave them alone if you can :) You’ll see why on part 2. The “bottom” part of the mine has tons and tons of things to kill. They are generally less crowded but the mobs are a little bit annoying, especially the worm-like mobs ><. While you are at the mine, keep an eye for the egss if you need the reputation. Some nice people also usually “broadcast” their egg discovery over the general channel.

Difficulty: Gawd, another quest that requires grinding. The drop rate of the crystals varied from ok to really suck :) Another annoying quest instead of difficult. The nice thing about it is that the mobs that you need to kill for the other netherwing dailies drop the crystals as well.

Reward: 11g 99s + 250 Netherwing rep.

Rating: When you need the rep, you don’t really have a choice than to grind for the crystal. Otherwise, what I usually do is do the other Netherwing dailies and wait for the crystal to pile up over 2 or more days. So, I don’t especially grind for them. Also, the maximum crystals that you can actually carry is 250, so you can actually “save up” for the next days.

The Not-so Friend Skies

Task: Collect 10 Netherwing relics from the Dragonmaw Transporters. There are two floating stones/ledges on the Dragonmaw Skyway area (it’s in the Northeast area of the Netherwing ridge) that you can stand to “intercept” the transporters. You can also stand in the “dock” area where the transporters land or take off, but there are elites guarding the place. You can still stand underneath the dock. Every once in a while, you’ll see the transporters flying through low enough that you can target them with your range attack. Their flying route is static, so you can just stand in one place the whole entire time. The drop rate, is once again, not 100%. If you are not lucky, be ready to stand there for a while just to get that last one ><

Difficulty: The competition makes this quest difficult. Disregarding the dock area, there are basically 4 places to stand that are optimal to intercept every incoming transporters - usually the edges of the floating stones. And guess what, everybody’s that doing that quest will be there. It’s generally hard to tag the transporters if more than 2 people are standing on the rock. The nature of the quest also not very encouraging for groupings. One transporter is generally harmless, but watch out for the sting and aimed shot which can take a chunk of life out of you if you are not watching. That makes multiple transporters potentially deadly. The good thing about it is that you choose when do you want to fight, so unless you are greedy, you are safe.

Reward: 11g 99s + 250 Netherwing rep.

Verdict: Same as the other dailies we discussed so far. Just do this if you really need to grind for the rep, otherwise, forget about it :(
The Great Netherwing Egg Hunt

Task: It’s a repeatable quest. You still get rep everytime you completed the quest, but you only get the money the first time around. Just turn in the netherwing egg, it’s that simple :) Any place where you are transformed can potentially spawn an egg. So don’t forget to check the fortress too. In the fortress, you don’t even have to worry about fighting, since you would be friendly with the mobs. The best place to get eggs is still in the mine.

Difficulty: It’s a luck game. A trip to do dailies usually net me about 1 or 2 eggs in average.

Reward: 9g 48s (first time only) + 25o Netherwing rep.

Verdict: This quest is a life saver when it comes to farming for Netherwing rep. *Shudder to think how many pain in the butt quests need to be completed otherwise*

Rating Ogri’la repeatable quests

There are some requirements to start these quests, which I’m not going to cover in this post.

The Relic’s Emanation (aka Simon Sayz)

Task: At one of the apexis relic/monument (there are a cluster of 5-6 relics scattered around Ogri’la - each usually guarded by one Gan’arg Analyzer), insert an apexis shard and the “game” will start. Each relic has four colored buttons/pillars - red, blue, orange, and green. At each round, a sequence of color will be given. It starts with one color, and it increases by one for each round. You have to follow the sequence correctly. When you completed 8 sequences, the quest will be completed although the game will go on. If you click an incorrect color sequence, you will get zapped for around 3k damage.

Difficulty: It’s easy if you are willing to spend the effort to record the color sequence. Another alternative is this add on called Ogri’Lazy which would make the quest trivial :)
Reward: 9g 10s + 15 Apexis shards + 350 Ogri’la rep + 15% movement speed increase on Blade’s Edge territory only.

Verdict: I have to admit that I’m usually lazy to write down the sequences. That’s the only thing that prevent me of doing this quest everyday. But, it’s definitely an easy money and the buff helps when you’re doing the other daily quests in the area.

Banish the Demons

Task: Only available after you hit honored with Ogri’la faction. You would be given an item that will create a portal at a cost of one Apexis shard. You can either do this at the north forge camp (wrath) or the south forge camp (terror). Note that within the two camps, if you use your flying mount - even on the ground - you will be bombarded with fel cannons. Basically, you make the portal and you start killing demons within the range of the portal (a debuff icon will appear on the mob when it is within the range). You cannot use someone’s portal (you won’t be credited with the kill). Each camp has different types of mobs.

The north one is more popular and it has:

  • Witness of Doom. Uncategorized. Low health. Will do an emote when it spotted you and proceed to aggro another mob on you (when you let it move away).
  • Wrath Hound. Demon. This big beast can charge you but should be able to be killed in ease. It is skinnable. Hounds walk around the area surrounding the fel cannons.
  • Wrath Speaker. Demon. The tall demon lady can usually be found circling the fel cannons area. Her special move is some kind of fire rain which can be easily avoided. They drop clothes, marks, and armaments for Aldor rep.
  • Furnace Guard. Demon. Nothing special with this guy. They usually stand nearby the fel fak cannons (the cannons won’t hit you if you are not mounted on your flying mount). They drop clothes, marks, and armaments for Aldor rep.
  • Wrath Corruptors. Humanoid. These guys responsible for many of my deaths around this area ><. They can be found “patrolling” the north side of Ogri’la, which includes the forge camp. The walk in a group of 2-3. There are also a group of them in one structure surrounded by fel cannons. These guys do a nasty shadow bolt which can easily overwhelm you if you are in the middle of fighting something else. The good thing is they are quite squishy.

The south one has:

  • Vile Fire-Soul. Elemental. Generally easy to kill and drops fire motes. I farm these guys when I’m in around the area.
  • Abyssal Flamebringer. Demon. Big elemental looking rock dude. They are aplenty in this area. They do some casting, which can be interrupted. I usually ignored it since it’s not dangerous. Their corpse is used for one of the daily cooking quest.
  • Fear Fiend. Demon. I loath this guy and his fel flame which he “breathes” out and damages you for 1.2k per tick. This can be silenced or interrupted. You can also run away from it when you see him casting it. These guys drop mark clothes, armaments, and marks for aldor rep.

Difficulty: As described, some demons are nastier than others. Also the competition, especially in the North area, can slow you down. The spawn rate is pretty decent, which makes this quest relatively easy.

Reward: 11g 99s + 1 Kronk’s bag (may contain darkrune fragment or darkrune which you need for Shartuul’s event) + 15 Apexis Shard + 350 Ogri’la rep.

Verdict: If you are doing bombing, might as well do this too.

Bomb Them Again (aka Ogri’la bombing quest)

Task: You need to destroy 15 fel cannonball stacks. They are usually marked with something that looks like a Hunter’s mark which makes it easy to spot in your flying mount. You need to dodge the fel cannon flaks, for sure. The key in here is to keep on moving and get ready to turn left and right when you see one heading in front of you (there are some lags to when the cannon shoots). If you are not successful, one trick that you can do is to go close to the cannonball stacks, mount up, throw the bomb, and immediately mounts down. Granted, it would be slower. The stacks disappear after being bombed but the respawn rate is very fast.

Difficulty: Medium on regular flying mount and easy on epic flying mount.

Reward: 11g 99s + 15 Apexis Shards + 500 Ogri’la and Sha’tari skyguard rep.

Verdict: It’s depends on your ability to move and maneuver. If you have epic flying mount, this is definitely a must do for easy money and shards, especially for the amount of rep that it gives. Remember that you can buy healing pot and mana equivalent to super healing pot and mana pot with each 50 shards. They are souldbound but can be used anywhere.

Wrangle More Aether Rays!

Task: Well…wrangle the rays. You’ll need 5 of them. You can find them fly around the area between the two forge camps (the south is relatively safe area due to the absence of wrath corruptors). You need to bring their health to 40% before you can wrangle them (an emote will appear). The only danger in this quest is to make sure you are at a distance with the Apexis Flayer and Shard-hide boars, so they won’t aggro you. The rays can do some knockback damage.

Difficulty: Easy if you don’t aggro anything else. Relatively easy if you do. The lack of range attack can also make some rays unreachable for some classes. The competition for these rays can make this quest longer to complete than it should. Remember that the rays will follow you until you fly nearby the quest giver, turn in the quest, or after some period of time. Having rays when you’re doing Simon says = no fun trying to click the pillars.

Reward: 11g 99s + 15 Apexis shard + 350 Ogri’la and Sha’tari rep.

Verdict: If it’s not too crowded, definitely a must do quest.

Rating Skettis daily/repeatable quests

Fires Over Skettis (aka Skettis bombing quest)

Task: In the gist, you need to destroy 20 Monster Kaliri’s Eggs. They can be found on at least three types of places:

  1. The platforms of the tall towers. The one directly south of the quest’s giver and the one directly east to this one are my favorite place to start. Each platform can contain 7 -8 eggs and the respawn rate is pretty fast. When it’s not too crowded, it is possible to go back and forth from the two places.
  2. The hollow top part of the tree trunks. Each usually contain 3 eggs. There’s a cluster of them on the south east area that I like as a second place to look when the area is quite busy.
  3. The platforms of the tree houses where the Arakkoas hangs out. Use caution when bombing these areas since the Arakkoas may attack you. It’s best when the area were just cleaned from the escort quest. There’s usually 4-5 eggs per platform.

Difficulty: Relatively easy. The tricky part is avoiding the Kaliri which may unmount you. You’ll grow to hate those pesky birds. The general trick to outrun them when you got aggro is to fly zig-zag-in higher up direction (pressing button for up/top while alternatively press left or right). Or just unmount and fight them. They are not hard to beat, although their stun is rather annoying. Flying mount makes this quest very easy. So does the days where Kaliri’s Stew is the daily cooking quest.

Reward: 11g 99s + 350 Sha’tari Skyguard rep

Verdict: Definitely do this. It’s fast and if you are careful, it won’t involve fighting any mobs.

Escape From Skettis (aka the escort quest)

Task: Just like the name infer, you are supposed to escort a prisoner down the tree house. Along the way, you have to fight Arakkoas. If you do the escort right after the someone did an escort, you may avoid fighting most of the mobs. The most pull that you’ll have to deal with is 2. But if you’re unlucky, nearby Kaliri may also attack you. There are three locations of possible prisoner’s spawn point (only one prisoner spawn at a time). One is on the tree house directly south of the Skettis camp. One on the east side and another one on the southeast (I’m too lazy to find the coordinates). The tree houses that you are looking for are the tree houses that connect to one other tree house through a hanging bridge while the other tree house has a “stair”/”bridge” that leads to the ground.

Difficulty: It’s soloable for all dps classes and tanker. Healing spec may want to grab another person to do the quest with.

Reward: 9g 10s + 3 Volatile Healing Pot or 2 Unstable Mana pot + 350 Sha’tari Skyguard rep.

Verdict: The hard part of the quest is finding the prisoner (i.e., one that has not been waited by someone else). If you’re lucky to find one during your bombing quest, by all mean, do it. Otherwise, the sheer amount of time you’ll spend waiting on a respawn point makes this quest not worth doing.

More Shadow Dust (repeatable)

Task: You’ll need to fork over 6 shadow dust that drops off the Arakkoas.

Comment: The drop rate is not so bad. The good thing about this quest is that, each time you turn in 6 shadow dust, you’ll get an elixir of shadow. The elixir allows you to see the (hostile) arakkoa’s spirits for 20 minutes. These arakkoas drop Time Lost scrolls. The scrolls themselves can be sold in AH for quite a sum of g.

Difficulty: The Arakkoa’s spirit usually comes in groups of 2-3. There are some that just walk around. They are actually quite difficult but definitely soloable. Again, probably not for a healing spec (except one with a good +dmg spell :) ).

Reward: 75 Sha’tari Skyguard rep

Verdict: I won’t go out and farm for shadow dust. But if one happens to drop when you’re killing Arakkoa, I would keep them. Once you have 6, turn them in, go to one of the tree house (pop the pot before you go to the tree house so you can find the safe spot), and farm for the Time Lost Scrolls. Of course, check your AH first to see whether it’s worth it. In my server, these sells quite good, so it’s definitely worth it.
