I’d Rather Be Wowing!

It has been a while (and how do I “want” to prepare for WotLK)

Perusing the most cliche excuse, real life took over.

But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t follow the roller coaster ride of Shadow Priest’s buff, nerf, buff, and then nerf again, to the point that I have to say enough is enough. So I’m just going to wait until everything is finalized to speculate about anything. I probably should have done that from the very beginning :).

In spite of that, there are certain things that need to be taken care of before the expansion (and patch 3.0) hits.

The “unavoidable” list

  1. If you do not know it already, the Frozen Shadoweave Set gets a nerf bat due to its conversion from shadow power to spell power. The spell power on the boots reduced from 57 to 47; from 72 to 59 for the robe, and from 50 to 41 for the shoulder.  Additionally, with the more prevalent usefulness of crits and the lost of hits from talent, our beloved set, and some of my other gears, just don’t cut it anymore. Shadowpriest.com, fortunately, provides a list of newly ranked gears for us to take advantage from. As for myself, I am collecting badges again to get the chest piece and pants from the badge vendor.
  2. Being financially ready for the expansion. This includes gathering a good quantity of varieties of herbs. I notice that prices, for example primals, are dropping. This is either a good time to start unhoarding some of your stock, or if you want to gamble, to stock these items even more for the potential influx of DKs (and for when they are levelling their crafting skills).

The “I want to do if I have all the time in the world” list

  1. Getting the Champion of Naaru’s title. Although it doesn’t seem like it’s a much of effort to do (only several heroics to do), I have to rely on the lucky RNG to give me the heroics that I need to run on the days that I’m not committed to raiding. Because that seems to be the only way I can get a group to run heroics these days.
  2. Getting a headstart on the achievements. Some in particular is the exploration and the “old world” reputation grinding.

The “I wish” list

  1. It would be nice to get the bear mount from ZA before it becomes extinct. But right now it’s not something that I foresee of getting. Similarly with the Hands of Adal title.

New Misery!

From the latest build, courtesy of MMO-Champion

Misery - now also increase the damage of MB, MF, and MS by the amount of equal to 15% of your spell power.

Not that I’m nitpicking or anything, but why didn’t it include SW:P, SW:D, and VT? Regardless, it’s nice to get a buff once in a while :).

Progress

We have been making some good progress in our T5 raiding content. Two weeks ago, we killed Leo for the first time and last week we had our first pull on Lady Vashj. This week, we ventured to TK, downed Void Reaver and attempted, though gotten terribly burnt, by A’lar.

Leo’s fight is arguably my favorite fight in SSC. I like the rythem in nuking and holding out on dps. I like the mobility and the demand on attentiveness to be successful. I like the rush when confronted by my inner demon. I enjoy the hilarity of killing the MC-ed tank. I even like how Leo look in close-up :). VR, on the other hand, is my least favorite fight in all raid content (so far). On our first attempt, I was lucky not to be targeted by orbs too frequently, and almost never get the explosion of other people nearby. But, I was having problem in keeping my threat lower than the rest of the tanks. On my second attempt, I felt like I didn’t do anything except running around to avoid the orbs. Even with that, I still get blasted from orbs, especially ones that target the people on my left and on my right (I guess we thought that we all far enough from each other). I guess now I know how melee dps feels during Lurker.

The plan right now is to put priority in clearing the content on TK while continuing our attempt on Vashj on the side. This is done in the hope that we can keep gearing ourselves before putting serious attempts on Vashj and Kael. With that said, Solarian, you are now on notice!
